Today's royal agenda

Good morning, it's set to be another jam-packed day of royal outings.

The King and Queen are in Scotland for Royal Week, where they will participating in a number of engagements. Charles will firstly join the Ceremony of the Keys at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, where Their Majesties will later host a garden party, alongside the Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.

The Prince of Wales will be travelling up to Sheffield to mark the two-year anniversary of Homewards, including visiting a local school to see the impact of a new early intervention model, which has been introduced to identify young people who may be at risk of homelessness and provide prevention support.

Once again, we'll also be keeping an eye on Wimbledon to see who will be sitting in the royal box later today on Centre Court.

Elsewhere, the Duke of Edinburgh will attend Canada celebrations in Ottawa, and Princess Anne will also attend an IALA World Aids to Navigation Day at Trinity House in London.

It's also an exciting day for Meghan Markle as she launches her As Ever Napa Valley rosé.

Stay tuned for all of the latest royal news and updates.

William and Kate can now grant royal warrants!

The Prince and Princess of Wales will issue their first royal warrants next year, with the first companies to be considered making their applications by the end of July.

Princess Kate will become the first Princess of Wales to grant royal warrants since Princess Mary of Teck in 1910 and just as for her husband, her royal seal of approval will be highly coveted.

Royal Train to be cut

The Royal Train will be decommissioned after decades of service to the Royal Family, it has been revealed.

Despite having fond memories of travelling in the nine-carriage train, King Charles has decided to give it up rather than make costly upgrades to keep it running on a modern railway network.

He will continue to use it, however, until the current maintenance contract comes to an end in early 2027.

The history of Holyroodhouse

The Palace of Holyroodhouse has been home to royalty for 500 years, and is Charles and Camilla's official Scottish residence. While it's used as a Royal Palace, it remains open to the public all year round. According to medieval legend, the Abbey was founded around 900 years ago in 1128 by David I of Scotland. It was later extended to include cloisters, guests houses and  royal chambers for use by the sovereign.

These royal chambers were then converted into a palace by James IV at the time of his marriage to Margaret Tudor. Today, the Palace boasts impressive public gardens, an impressive gallery space for art from the Royal Collection, a Throne Room and the State Apartments.

William's latest outing

Hello! The Prince of Wales has been out in Sheffield today as he fronted a panel discussion to mark the second anniversary of his Homewards initiative, which seeks to combat homelessness.

The royal was joined by former Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, and Dragons' Den star, Steven Bartlett. Following the event, Gordon compared William to his late mother, Princess Diana. "I think he's changing people’s view of homelessness and what can be done about it," he told reporters.

“Remember, his mother changed people's views on Aids, his mother changed people’s views on landmines, and I think he's changing people's view that you've got to think of a homeless person as an individual who has potential – who if given the proper chance, can actually make something of their lives, and not as someone to be discounted as a down-and-out."

Fun facts!

Fun facts about the much-coveted seats on Centre Court:

There are only 74 spots in the Royal Box, with guests invited by the Chairman of the All England Club.

Gentlemen are required to wear a suit or a jacket and tie, while ladies are asked not to wear hats to avoid obscuring the vision of those seated behind them.

After play is finished for the day, guests in the royal box are then invited to the Clubhouse for lunch, tea and drinks.
